Natchitoches, LA — The 13th Annual Natchitoches Jazz/R&B fundraiser, long known as one of Natchitoches’ biggest and best parties, is Friday, March 14, 2008, in Prather Coliseum on the Northwestern State University campus in Natchitoches. Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
As always, the fundraiser will feature great food, a live and silent auction and music by Johnny Earthquake and The Moondogs, Hardrick Rivers, Lukejazz and others.
Also, this will be the fifth year that the fundraiser will feature the semi-finals of the “Natchitoches Star” competition. The Natchitoches Star is an American Idol-type of competition in which the singers are judged in various categories such as vocal talent, presentation and crowd response.
The three finalists will be chosen on the evening of March 14. The three finalists will perform at the Jazz/R&B Festival on April 5, with the winner being announced during that evening. This year’s Festival features headliners Wayne Toups, James Burton, JYPSI, Trini Triggs, Josh Hyde & the Hitchhikers, and more. Also, there will be a “College Night” on Friday night, April 4.
Tickets to the March 14th fundraiser are $15 in advance and $20 at the door. A table of eight providing preferred seating may be purchased for $200. Festival sponsors VIP tables are also available.
